HOSPITALITY

MANAGERIAL
A manager or supervisor is responsible for managing or supervising a team, whether customerfacing or operational. An ability to organise, respond to feedback and complaints, learn and implement policies and procedures, etc. would be required for most roles. Please note: A Level 3 qualification and/or management experience within hospitality (unless skills/experience are transferable) would be required in almost all cases.

WAITING / BARTENDING
A waiter/waitress or bartender is responsible for serving customers, whether in a hotel, bar, pub or restaurant setting. Applicants must be at least 18 years old if alcohol is served at the establisment. Skills include people skills, good presentation, an unintrusive manner, and efficiency to carry out tasks including taking orders correctly. Please note: Previous experience is desirable, though not essential depending on the role.

KITCHEN
A member of the kitchen (non-catering – see the Catering sector for catering roles) will be involved in and around food making and preparation, and other duties relating to this area, such as cleaning and organising, responding to customers’ order changes, etc. Please note: Kitchen staff require a Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety qualification. Supervisors / Managers require a Level 3 Food Hygiene and Safety qualification. The FSA also advises that Food Allergen Awareness Training is completed.

HOUSEKEEPING
A housekeeper and other staff will usually be based at a hotel or B&B, and are responsible for keeping the designated areas of responsibility in good order so that guests can feel comfortable in a clean and hygienically safe environment. Please note: Previous experience is desirable, though not essential depending on the role.

CUSTOMER SERVICE / SALES / OPERATIONS
Customer Service/Sales/Operations roles will vary depending on the nature of the business, but will involve customer-facing duties, processing and other operational responsibilities. Please note: Previous experience is desirable, though not essential depending on the role.
